For this reason we create this Colors of Peru program to live real experience with local people, with Colors of Peru will be able to experience a peruvian cuisine, with our cooking class, Walk by the impressive streets of Cusco, the capital of the inca Empire Cusco, then visit Sacred Valley to interact with local people, arrive to Machu Picchu walking by the Short Inca Trail, experience native weaving process, finally get into wildlife in the Amazon of Peru
Day 1 – International Arrival in Lima
Arrival in Lima; our representative will assist you with a customized sign with your name and private transfer to your hotel; there are no planned activities – Overnight in Lima Hotel
Day 2 – Peruvian Cuisine: Local Market Tour – Cooking class – 4 course meal
Pick up from your hotel at around 09:00 am, in company of your guide you will visit the local market in order to learn about the variety of products and ingredients we have in Peru, then you will continue directly to the restaurant where the specialist chef will be waiting for you.
Around 11 am you will start with your cooking class, this class can be done vegetarian and vegan on request.
1st Course: CAUSA RELLENA (Mashed potatoes with lime and mild chili paste stuffed with chicken and avocado)
2nd Course: CEVICHE (Cured fish salad with corn and sweet potatoes)
3rd Course: LOMO SALTADO (Sauteed beef, onion and tomatoes with rice and yellow potato fries)
4th Course: PICARONES (Fried pumpkin – sweet potato dough with molasses)
Tour will finish at around 2 pm, then afternoon free to relax – Overnight in Lima Hotel
Day 3 – Flight to Cusco – Free day to get acclimatization on this high elevation
Upon arrival our staff will pick you up whether you arrive to Cusco Airport, train or bus station. Afterwards, we will transfer you to your chosen hotel and will give you a short briefing about your stay in Cusco. Depending on your arrival time you will have some time to walk around Cusco, the ancient capital of the Incas, or stay at your hotel to have a rest and acclimatize – Overnight in Cusco Hotel

Day 4 – Walking Cusco City Tour: San Blas – Cathedral – Temple of the sun – San Pedro local fruit market – Sacsayhuaman
Pick up from your hotel at 09:00 am; the tour is beginning in the neighborhood of San Blas, with its artisans. Then you’ll go down the narrow stairs of Hatun Rumiyoc Street where the Palace of Inca Roca is located. On its walls, you’ll discover the figures of a puma and a snake. Also, be sure to observe the famous stone with 12 angles, the perfect image of the Incan architectural perfection. Continue on to the Plaza de Armas of Cusco, you will enter the Cathedral of Cusco, the first Catholic church ordered to build on 1559, then continue towards the Temple of the Sun (known as Koricancha) on which the Santo Domingo Convent was built. After we will visit San Pedro local fruit market; here you’ll learn about the market’s history as you explore rows of local produce, colorful fabrics, flower vendors and shaman stalls; see the real life of the townsfolk. Finally, the tour ends with your visit to Sacsayhuaman fortress, from Cusco, you’ll drive up the mountains for 20 minutes to visit this impressive archeological site. Continue on to the famous park of Sacsayhuaman where you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Cusco, Sacsayhuaman boasts impressive Incan design and artwork with massive stones over 9 meters (30 feet) tall and weighing up to 125 tons, then back to Cusco – Overnight in Cusco Hotel
Day 5 – Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac – Organic Lunch in Sacllo community – Ollantaytambo Town
Pick up from your hotel at 08:00 am, then you will continue to the picturesque town of Pisac, in about 50 minutes driven we will arrive to this town, short ride 25 more minutes up to Pisac archeological site. Here you will participate in the guided tour, visiting all its holy places including terraces, aqueducts, paths that are associated to walls and gates, water channels, cemeteries, bridges, etc.
After we will continue to Pisac local Market where you can purchase beautifully crafted products hand-made by the locals, on the way to Ollantaytambo we will stop in Calca town and take a detour to visit Sacllo community to meet with a local family, where a member specialized in organic agriculture will explain to you all the process how to prepare the land, till to harvest, here they produce different types of organic vegetables to their own consumption and also to provide just to selected restaurants in Cusco. This family support to another communities around, training them to promote and produce more organic products. Here we will have our organic lunch with this local family, then our next destinations will be the remains of Ollantaytambo Fortress and the Temple of the Sun, a mysteriously built structure with massive 12 foot (3.5m) tall stones. In the afternoon we will take the train to Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu town – Overnight in Ollantaytambo Hotel

Day 6 – Short Inca Trail: Ollantaytambo – KM 104 – Wiñayhuayna – Machu Picchu
Early pick up from your hotel at 05:30 am; depart from Cusco by van to Ollantaytambo train station to board the train at 07:45 am that will take you to Km. 104 or Chachabamba where the Short Inca Trail begins, after the train drop us here we will go to the Inca Trail checkpoint. From here will begin our hike three hours hike with spectacular overlooks above the great valley, we will reach Wiñayhuayna Inca site, you will participate in the guided tour the guide will explain to you about the importance and the function that this place had in the Incan time. Time to relax and enjoy a delicious box-lunch that we will provide to you, after a short break we will continue our hike, here we will join with the Classic Inca Trail, following the Inca Trail we will reach Gate of the Sun here we will catch the first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu. After enjoy the landscape around Machu Picchu and taking some pictures we walk 50 more minutes to reach Machu Picchu Inca Site, this day not guided tour in this impressive Inca Site, just we will pass to catch the bus down to Aguas Calientes town where we will spend the night in a Hotel

Day 7 – Machu Picchu Guided Tour – Ollantaytambo
Excursion to Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes: In the morning at the scheduled time the guide will be in your hotel to pick you up and escort you to the bus station, short ride 30 minutes up to reach the citadel of Machu Picchu. After pass the control you will participate in a guided tour at your leisurely pace, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the most important preserved Intihuatana, the Royal Quarters, the room of the Three Windows and the temple of the Condor.
Optional climb to Huayna Picchu Mountain; from where you can appreciate the immensity of Machu Picchu, even more amazing being high and distant (not included in the price):
In the afternoon you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where you will be assisted by our staff and transfer to your Hotel.

Day 8 – Ollantaytambo – Salineras – Moray – Native Inca Textile Tradition – Cusco
After enjoy your energetic breakfast in the hotel, your private guide will pick you up from your hotel and you will visit the impressive Maras salt pools formed by water emerging from the ground, here we will learn about ancestral techniques, which are still used, in agricultural, irrigation and salt recollection tasks, then the next destination to explore is the Inca agricultural experimental center of Moray. Famous for its sunken amphitheater, made up of four circular terraces, which appear to disappear into the earth like an artificial crater. The site was apparently an Inca agricultural research station designed for experimenting with crops at various altitudes, from here your private transport will take you to Taucca community, nearby Piuray lake in Chinchero village, where a group of family will be waiting for you with an organic traditional lunch. After lunch be part of the inca textile experience and learn about the dyeing and weaving process, you will have a live demonstration, about the techniques of traditional weaving using natural plants, roots, seeds, leaves and insects to dye the alpaca wool, also you will be able to have a weaving lesson to learn the basic structure of weaving, finally, our transport will take us back to Cusco – Overnight in Cusco Hotel

Day 10 – Flight to Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata Lodge
Breakfast at the hotel; transfer to Cusco airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado; upon arrival from Cusco, reception by an English speaking guide and transfer by car one hour along a dirt road to Puerto Nuevo (Port) in the Native Community of Infierno from where we board our boat one and a half hour along the Tambopata River to reach the lodge. The lodge is located on the inside the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve and Bahuaja Sonene National Park. Along the journey by boat you have the opportunity to appreciate the flora along the River bank made up principally of cañabravales, cecropias, ficus, as well as the fauna such as birds.
Once in our Lodge you’ll be received by the administrator and your guide will indicate the best ways for you to enjoy your stay, later showing you the different areas of the lodge. After Lunch the guide will lead you on a walk to observe the flora and fauna in the vicinity of the lodge. Day 11 – Parrot Clay Lick – Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake
Breakfast; leave early in the morning by boat to observe the activity of the birds (psitácidos, macaws, parrots and parraquits). The “La Torre” clay lick is similar to the rest of the salt licks along the Tambopata River, comprising of an embankment on the side of the river with a height of 4m and a length of 20m. Then visit Native Community Farm; where you will have the opportunity to learn about farming directly from a local farmer and will get an introduction to the various exotic fruits of the Amazon such as copazú, arazá, pijuayo, and yuca, as well as species such as, el pajillo y sacha cilantro. In the afternoon downriver for 15 minutes to start a 45 minute walk to reach the Tres Chimbadas Lake. On the lake we will board a traditional catamarán which functions with oars, allowing us to travel around the lake. This lake is home to a family of Giant River Otters which means we frequently get the chance to observe them. There will also be a demonstration of the traditional fishing methods during which you may get the chance to see the famous pirana fish – Overnight in the Amazon Lodge

Day 12 – Parrot Clay Lick – Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake
Breakfast; Cocococha Lake is found inside the Tambopata National Reserve, and occupies an area of 60 hectares. If you put together the beautiful landscape, the high biodiversity in the area and the isolation of the lake, it is certain that the lake represents an important habitat for many species. Thus providing valuable food sources and allowing for the reproduction of various endangered species, many of which are emblems of the Amazon such as the macaws (ara sp), the black caiman, (Melanosuchus Níger) and the giant river otter (Pteronura brasilensis). At dusk accompanied by your guide where you will have the chance to enjoy the night time noises, a storm or the southern constellations such as the scorpion, and the Southern cross. We will take a reflector with us in the boat just in case we come across the night time activity of the caiman, capybaras, chotacabras in the River Tambopata – Overnight in the Amazon Lodge

Day 13 – Departure from Lodge – Flight to Lima – Connect at International Flight
Breakfast at lodge; transfer by boat – Lodge to Tambopata River port then to Puerto Maldonado, we retrace our river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado, our office and the airport. Depending on airline schedules, this may require dawn departures.
Flight to Lima where you can connect at the same airport for International flight
